About Solar & the EnvironmentSolar energy is clean, renewable and free. In Australia we live in the perfect climate for solar power, lots of sun and not much rain. The conversion from sunlight to power is direct and effective.Renewable energy is a sustainable resource which means that we can avoid the depletion of natural resources for future generations. Not only this but the energy is clean as we do not produce carbon dioxide, there is no water consumption, thermal pollution, waste, noise and adverse land-use impacts Installing a 1kW grid connectable system is a great step toward helping our environment and is the equivalent of planting approximately 93 trees or reducing your greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 1.86 tonnes each year. Why a grid Connectable System? The great thing about a grid connectable system is that the power you are generating but not using can be used by someone else, such as industry. Let’s say you are at work or on holidays the power generated from your solar system would be fed back onto the grid. The power meter at your home would record this as a credit. The power would be used by other home owners or industry negating the necessity for the power authority to produce the power that you are now generating. This type of solar power system creates diversity and reliability in energy supply requirements.Non grid connectable systems require very expensive batteries, but they do allow you to store power for use at night. Non grid connected system are more suited for people who have an inconsistent energy supply or are remote and cannot access the power grid. The batteries will need to be replaced over time as they lose their charge, they also don’t allow other parties to use the power that you are generating when you are away. |
